A few years ago, after a busy night, I asked myself why I was still doing it? I had a strange feeling, like when I was lying in the meadow in the summer as a child, looking at the sky and dreaming about what I would do when I grew up. That's when I started to feel that something wasn't quite right. Like when I feel something is missing from a dish. An ingredient, a feeling, a color, a taste...
Then one day my wife, Anikó, said that she had found an interesting-looking lot in the second district, - she is not sure, but let's go and have a look in the afternoon. Alright, meet you there.
Navigator... II. district, Szilágyi Erzsébet Fasor 77.
I arrived earlier, and while I was waiting for him, I looked to see where number 77 was, it's a familiar place. Is this Lugas? We had dinner here for the first time with Aniko when...around 1992...does Aniko remember?
Meanwhile, my wife also runs in, laughing at me......-Do you remember?
A lady arrives, greets you in Italian, Buongiorno, lets us in and we jump back 30 years in time. We remember the table where we sat, we tell stories, the lady, Tünde, also tells stories, and it turns out she knows me, we worked together for a short time around 1990 at the Marco Polo restaurant.
He's sorry, but he has to sell it, he can't handle it anymore. You would be happy to sell it to me, you know, it will be in good hands with me.
I feel a strange, positive energy. Tünde's aura, his stories, our stories, an interesting afternoon.
We'll decide by tomorrow, I say, and we say goodbye. Anikó hesitates... Stop, start all over again..... We called Tünde the next morning and agreed.
I love the way I live, the way I feel, and I try to convey this to my guests with all my heart through my gastronomy. Now I feel that my main course is also complete, I have found the missing flavor.
We dreamed of a restaurant that reflects us inside and out. A place that is worthy of a lot of work and effort invested. For us, our restaurant is our home, where we live and we are excited to welcome our dear old and hopeful new guests in our new home.
We thought for a long time, more than a year, about what to name it. Shall we keep it? Arbor?
Because this is Lugas for us as well as for many others.
Even now, after three years, when we get up in the morning, we drink our coffee, we discuss what to do today, - of course, we'll go to the construction site before work, - so we still say today that we're going to Lugas. We just refer to it as Lugas, but
after all, this is our restaurant, our house, our garden, we are this house, our dream come true, our feelings will live in it, our gastronomy, our lifestyle, our outlook on life.
We can't call it anything but simply FAUSTO'S
